“I focus on how light and atmosphere come together to reveal a subject. My work captures the overall impression of a moment—much like a memory—using an alla prima, or wet-into-wet, approach. This loose brushwork allows me to translate the raw energy of a scene directly onto the canvas. I feel I’ve succeeded when I’ve captured the sense of being present within the small world I’ve created.”
