Watercolor Painting: Beginning to End class

August 6 @ 6:00 pm 9:00 pm

$50.00

Have you always wanted to try watercolor but weren’t sure where to start? This hands-on class takes all the mystery out of the process — and by the end of the evening, you’ll have a finished painting you’ll actually want to hang on your wall.

In just three hours, local watercolor artist Bill Mowson will walk you through a complete painting from first sketch to final brushstroke. You won’t just watch — you’ll paint alongside Bill the entire time, working through the same subject together with real-time guidance every step of the way.

Instructor: Bill Mowson (bmowson@twcny.rr.com)
Skill Level: Beginner
Cost: $50
Date: Thursday, August 6, from 6:00–9:00pm

Here’s how the evening unfolds:

The first hour covers the foundation: composition and drawing, then applying those first sweeping washes of color. After a short break, you’ll build depth and dimension with layered washes and special effects. In the final segment, you’ll add the finishing details that bring the whole painting to life.

Along the way, you’ll learn how to mix and handle watercolor pigments, how to layer colors to create depth, and how to recover gracefully from the inevitable “oops” moments. Bill also shares his approach to the full painting process — a structured, repeatable method you can take home and use.

All materials are provided, so you show up ready to paint. Intermediate painters are welcome to bring their own supplies if preferred.

Space is limited to 8 students — so if you’ve been curious about watercolor, this is for you.
