What makes a tattoo more than just a tattoo?
It’s the vision, the craft, and the story behind it. This month’s Third Thursday brings Elemental Arts Tattoo into the gallery for a captivating look at contemporary body art — exploring how tattoo design has evolved into a respected fine art form. You’ll get an inside look at the creative process, from initial concept and inspiration to the techniques that bring meaningful, lasting imagery to life.
After the presentation, the evening opens up into a hands-on experience. Watch a live tattoo demonstration up close, try your hand at tattooing on practice skin, and see the tools and techniques of the trade in action. It’s an evening that invites you to engage, ask questions, and get as close to the art as you want.
A limited number of flash tattoos will also be available following the presentation. Flash tattoos are pre-drawn designs selected by the Elemental Arts artists — custom designs are not available. With three artists accommodating approximately 3–4 tattoos each, spots are very limited. Sign-ups take place at the event on a first-come, first-served basis, so arrive early if you’re interested.
Whether you’re a longtime tattoo enthusiast, a curious artist, or someone who’s simply never thought about ink as art before, this is a conversation worth having. Come see the parallels between what hangs on our walls and what people choose to carry with them forever.
