Neal Allen: Artist Opening

March 7 @ 2:00 pm 4:00 pm

An Afternoon with Pastel Artist Neal Allen

Each month, Railroad Street Artworks celebrates one of our own with a Featured Member Artist opening reception — a chance to meet a fellow member up close and experience their work firsthand.

This March, we’re delighted to spotlight Neal Allen, a pastel artist whose luminous landscapes and still lifes capture the moody beauty of the Northeast.

Neal’s path to art is one of those wonderful stories — a childhood love of drawing, set aside for a thirty-three-year career as a music teacher, then picked up again with real intention and remarkable results. Working from his Gorham studio on sanded paper with soft pastels, Neal pursues saturated color, a wide range of values, and a deep sense of place. He’s drawn to landscapes rooted in memory — Vermont hillsides, Maine coastlines, the quiet corners of the Finger Lakes — and invents his skies with the confidence of someone who has spent years learning to see.

His work has earned recognition from the Pastel Society of America and in exhibitions across the region, but Neal will tell you the compliment that means most is when a viewer says, “That reminds me of…”

Come meet Neal, enjoy his work, and be part of this monthly tradition of celebrating the artists who make Railroad Street Artworks such a special place.

Free & Open to the Public.
