Laurie Maddalina · Featured Artist Opening Reception
April 4 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Join us Saturday, April 4 from 2–4pm as Railroad Street Artworks celebrates our April Featured Artist, Laurie Maddalina — a Fairport-based painter whose deep love of fine art has been a thread running through her entire life.
Laurie studied studio art and graphic design at Potsdam State University and went on to work as an art director before stepping away from the professional world to raise her family. It was her oldest daughter, Julia — who shares her mother’s passion for the visual arts — who brought her back to the easel. When Julia began taking lessons from professional artists in the community, Laurie joined her, and she hasn’t looked back since.

She has since studied with nationally recognized artists, including David Kassan, Rob Liberace, Michelle Dunaway, and Jeff Hein, and has attended more than half a dozen conferences of the National Portrait Society. Her work has been accepted into numerous juried exhibitions, both local and national, and has earned awards, including the BoldBrush Outstanding Pastel Award. She is a member of the Oil Painters of America, the National Portrait Society, the Rochester Art Club, the Greater Rochester Plein Air Painters, and the Western NY Pastel Society.
Portraits are at the heart of Laurie’s practice — her primary goal is to find the humanity and personality within each subject. She works in oils, pastels, charcoal, and watercolor, and has been increasingly focused on plein-air and still-life work.
Come meet Laurie, see her work filling our Featured Artist wall, and enjoy an afternoon at the gallery.
